One of the most common questions we get from prospective Solar ATAP customers is: "What do I need to send you?"
The good news: most of the application paperwork is technical (single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, site plans) and we prepare those for you as part of our SEDA-registered installer service. What you actually need to gather is short. This page is the complete 2026 checklist.
For residential applications (homes)
What you provide
- Identity card (IC) — clear photo or scan of front and back, must be the registered TNB account holder
- 3 months of recent TNB bills — needed to size the system correctly. PDF or photo from the myTNB app is fine
- Proof of property ownership — typically the geran (title deed) or, if recently bought, the Sale & Purchase Agreement (SPA)
- Authorisation letter (if applicable) — needed if you are not the registered owner. Required from the landlord for tenants
- Tenancy agreement (if applicable) — for tenants, must show right of occupation for at least the duration of the Solar ATAP contract
- Photos of your meter board — quick smartphone photos of the TNB meter and your main switchboard
- Photos / drone view of your roof — optional; we typically take these during site visit but advance photos help with initial sizing
What we prepare for you
- Site assessment report (post site visit)
- System design and single-line diagram (SLD)
- Equipment list with brand, model, capacity
- SEDA application forms (filled and signature-ready)
- TNB grid-connection forms
- Solar ATAP contract package
For commercial / industrial applications
What you provide
- SSM company profile — current SSM e-info (Sdn Bhd / Berhad / partnership / sole proprietorship)
- Form 24 / Form 49 (or current equivalent) — list of directors and shareholders
- Board resolution — authorising the solar installation and the signatory
- Authorised signatory IC
- 3-12 months of TNB commercial bills — more history is needed for commercial sizing as load patterns vary
- Property title or lease — same as residential; for leased premises, landlord authorisation is essential
- Maximum Demand (MD) statement from TNB — usually visible on the bill; we use this to confirm system sizing under the 100% MD limit
- Single-line diagram of existing electrical installation — your facility's existing electrical drawings if available (helps us design the connection point)
What we prepare for you
- Site assessment report including roof structural review
- Detailed system design with single-line diagram
- Quantity-surveyor-style capex breakdown (helpful for GITA application)
- Solar ATAP application forms
- TNB connection application package
- Energy Commission (ST) electrical contractor sign-off documents
- Optional: BESS sizing and design if you want batteries (see our BESS guide)
Special situations
Strata / condominium / apartment
You'll need Joint Management Body (JMB) or Management Corporation (MC) approval in addition to the standard documents. We can help you draft the proposal package for the JMB meeting.
Bumiputra-reserved land or Malay Reserve land
The Solar ATAP installation does not change land status, but you should confirm with the State Land Office that you have the right to install fixed equipment on the building. We're familiar with these cases in Selangor — bring the geran and we'll advise.
Heritage / pre-war buildings
For pre-war shophouses (George Town, KL Old Town, parts of Ipoh), local council heritage approval may be needed in addition to standard SEDA + TNB documents. Allow extra 4-8 weeks for council review.
What slows applications down (avoid these)
- TNB account name doesn't match property owner — common when property changed hands. You'll need to update TNB account first or provide an authorisation chain
- Outdated SSM info — pull current e-info, not a 2-year-old PDF
- Photo-only of IC instead of clear scan — SEDA may request resubmission
- Tenancy agreement expires before 10 years — tenants need landlord authorisation covering the full Solar ATAP contract period
- Sending bills as random screenshots — full PDF download from myTNB is cleanest
One simple kit to send us
For most residential customers, the entire kit you need to email us is:
- IC (front/back photo)
- 3 most recent TNB bills (PDF)
- Geran or SPA (PDF or photo)
- Photo of your TNB meter and DB box
That's it. Send those and we'll come back within 24-48 hours with system size, indicative cost, and a site visit slot.
